Liveaboard Diving Cruises in Bali, Komodo, Flores and Manado, Indonesia |
|
World-famous as one of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world,
Bali also offers spectacular diving. Menjangen Island, a national marine
park, is suitable for divers of all levels. Here you will find rugged
walls with caves, a large variety of corals, lots of fish including
batfish and possibly mantas, slight currents, and a fine wreck. Another
good wreck in Tulamben, an hour from Menjangen, can be easily dived from
the beach. Here the number of fish you will see is amazing, lots of
corals too, bring your camera! The wreck is very shallow and is good for
snorkelers too. For more challenging diving, head to Nusa Penida, just south of Bali, but be prepared for some cold water and fierce currents! You will be rewarded by the proliferation of pelagics, including jacks, reef sharks, mantas, and occasionally the strange ‘mola mola’ or oceanic sunfish. Fantastic diving, but not for beginners! Other rewarding diving can be found in Padangbai, Candidasa, and Amed. |

Manado is one of the most famous dive locations in South-East
Asia, and deservedly so. It also has been classified as one of the very
best dive region of the world. Spectacular wall dives, a proliferation
of corals and fish, including reef sharks, rays, Napoleon wrasse,
turtles, barracuda, and sea snakes, bumphead parrotfish, morays, plus
the area’s rugged, undamaged beauty keep bringing divers back. The
whole area is a national marine park, resulting in excellent numbers and
variety of fish. Currents range from mild to about 2 knots, making
usually easy diving. Manado is in north Sulawesi, Indonesia. There are 5
islands in Manado Bay, all within an hour’s boat ride, and over 20
dive sites. Bunaken Island, with 13 dive sites, offers wall dives with fantastic coral growth and lots of fish. Manado Tua is a dormant volcano with wall dives, caves, and lots of big fish. Here is also the famous Barracuda Point, where there is a resident school of large barracuda in the hundreds. There is also a wreck at Manado. There are some lovely black corals and gorgonians to make a visit worthwhile. |
